TURMERIC COOKED CHICKPEAS

TURMERIC COOKED CHICKPEAS

My favorite carb side dish. It is ¬†low glycemic starchy side which means it does not kick you sugar levels so high as let’s say pasta. So easy and versatile. Once you cook a batch you can add it to salad, main dishes, make this famous paste all like – read hummus. Anyways let’s not waste the precious times and get rolling Foodies!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw chickpeas
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Prep Instructions

  1. Soak dry chickpeas overnight.
  2. In a medium size pot bring water to boiling and add salt.
  3. Add to boiling water the soaked chickpeas and cook on medium heat for 45 minutes or until soft.
  4. 15 minute before the end of cooking time add the turmeric powder.
