WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE STYLE?

Just like most of the girls I noticed that after I hit 30 something started to change. I was always restricting my food intake following many different diets. The usual was happening every time I tried something new. It worked somewhat initially and was always followed by a typical yo-yo effect. I gained the same weight and some more. I never enjoyed any of the plans as they primarily were based on restricting one group of foods whether carbs or fat. Anyways the reason I wanted to change my life style for good was the thought that if I would’t do something now it will only get worse and harder with time and even more weight.

WHAT DID YOU EXPECT FROM THE PROGRAM?

Not too much to be honest. I didn’t truly believe that there would be any results, any tangible change. I was even thinking about the program pretty much the same as just another dieting program. So I started to just  follow the instruction given by my coach and husband. I noticed that from the beginning it was totally different than on other programs. There was more consultative approach, many questions about how to tweak the program into my personal preferences, work style, current behaviour, food likes and dislikes etc.

WHAT WAS YOUR MAJOR LIMITING FACTOR IN ACHIEVING LONG TERM SUCCESS?

Well, my problem is that I need to be monitored all day long. I am the kind of person that you need to drag to the gym, motivate to do stuff especially initially when new things happen. I simply needed to have a 24h  coach. Like most people I need to be pushed, reminded, motivated before I turn on the next gear and then hit the road on my own. So in my case the major limitation was really not only about having the structure of a program in place but more importantly an accountability partner. Someone I could rely on when it came to measuring not goals achievement but rather tracking the application and development of new behaviours. I also needed information, tons of motivation and encouragement to break through my weak spots on this as always bumpy road to a permanent and long term change.

THE KEY TO SUSTAIN LONG TERM HEALTHY LIFESTYLE FOR YOU?

Make the whole change fit your lifestyle and especially personality. I know myself and having so much information about what is good and healthy nowadays just adds to the confusion. I now know what it is, what works best for me, what I won’t do or eat so I once I achieved my own personalised structure to follow sustaining this lifestyle is not an issue at all. Quite the opposite when the process is easy and becomes effortless then the whole of idea of going off the plan really dissipates.

THE BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT SO FAR?

I lost overall around 9 kg but what is much more important to me is that I started to like my body again and not to be ashamed to go out wearing short skirts. But I guess the most important accomplishment was that I finally regained control over my body. I know now how to eat and live to build a better functioning and performing body. I believe that we all need to work a little more on ourselves every single day. And I finally have a plan that I enjoy. Yes there is some effort built in the program but I guess like with everything else in life hard work and dedication always pays off. It does in my case. I also gained a lot of knowledge about food. I understand what proteins and carbs are. I am not any longer ‘I’ll just have a salad lady‘ which I thought was the only healthy choice for me.

HAS WORK WEEK FOODIE HAD ANY IMPACT ON YOUR AMAZING TRANSFORMATION?

Absolutely! Before I started the program I was a person who could not really see meals. I knew how to cook but even having lots of ingredients I did not see meals. I did not have this sense of imagination to prepare tasty, simple, healthy  meals that were aligned with my fitness goals. I had the basic cooking skills but there was something missing. The cool thing about Work Week Foodie is that it is mostly based on simple recipes with ingredients most people have at home in their pantries and fridges. The program helped me to open up mind and think as they say outside the box. I am now able to prepare good and good for me meals from the most basic ingredients. With a proper prep session once a week I produce simple and delicious meals tailored specifically to my goals and preferences.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHER FOODIE ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Don’t expect to see results immediately you start program, don’t check your weight every day. Results will come when you least expect them. They will come as a by-product of your new behaviors. And your new behaviors development is something to really focus on during this program.
